SHIP Information Governance Toolkit
Click here to access the SHIP Information Governance Toolkit. Its a free online resource to help you navigate the legal and ethical requirements surrounding the secondary use of health information for research purposes. It was created by Emily Postan and Sarah Sutherland at the School of Law at University of Edinburgh, and with input from others in the SHIP Community, primarily with researchers and data custodians in mind.
It aims to:
- Explain the ethical and legal concepts associated with the secondary use of patient data for research purposes.
- Provide route-maps which guide researchers and data custodians through the various processes involved in accessing patient data and using patient data in research projects.
- Show how SHIP can help in the data linkage process.
- Provide links to other online resources, such as relevant information from the NHS, Information Commissioner etc.
We hope you find it useful.
